Hamburg, 25 August 2008 – Whether looking to record meetings, dictations, take down interviews or just make a quick personal note, the Olympus DS-2400 has all bases covered. This sleek and elegant digital voice recorder is especially designed for small and medium-sized enterprises – putting the user in control to ensure nothing is missed. Up to 200 files can be saved in each of the five folders and an SDHC Card slot ensures ample storage capacity. Recordings are saved in the high-quality DSSPro format and users have the choice of various recording modes including the new extra-high-quality QP mode – which is especially ideal for the crisp capture of meetings and lectures. A large backlit LCD assists operation and ensures easy navigation through the intuitive menus which are available in six languages. Files can be downloaded quickly and easily to a PC or Mac via Hi-Speed USB and integrated in the office workflow thanks to the included DSS Player software. For dedicated transcription needs, Olympus also offers the optional AS-2400 Transcription Kit which includes a footswitch and headset for hands-free operation. Both the DS-2400 and AS-2400 will be available from autumn 2008.    

The attractive and compact DS-2400 is the ideal companion for any professional looking to improve their organisation and efficiency. Five separate folders are on hand in which various types of files can be stored. Entire meetings, lectures or conferences can be recorded and played back, with the most important parts flagged for easy location later – as up to 32 index marks can be allocated in each file.

Recording time is only limited by the size of the inserted SD Card. With the included 1GB card, more than 159 hours of audio can be saved in SP mode. Capable of handling cards up to 16GB, memory worries are therefore a thing of the past. The DS-2400 is also extremely energy efficient and allows recording to continue for around 32 hours in SP Mode on a single set of batteries.

14 easy-to-operate push buttons distributed along the front and sides of the recorder, including three user-programmable Smart Buttons, make operation both intuitive and hassle-free. In addition, USB Storage Class and Audio Class compatibility allow the unit to be utilised as a USB speaker and a microphone, and direct dictation to the computer is also possible.

The included DSS Player software provides users with a simple way to download, organise and play back recordings on both PCs and Macs. It also incorporates various security features to safeguard data, ensuring that the information you want protected remains confidential.   

For even more versatility when it comes to transcribing voice files, the optional AS-2400 Transcription Kit is also available. Besides the DSS Player Standard Transcription Module, the kit also includes the RS-28 footswitch and the E-102 stereo headset to make hands-free operation of the DS-2400 possible.
